Okay, now is the time to list out my current favorite games. This will include board games and miniatures games, as well as video games. Sorry, no PC gaming at this time. I just have a rule at home that video games reside solely on the console, such as an Xbox or a PlayStation 2, and not on the PC. However, one of my goals later this year is to build my own PC from the mother board and up, so maybe at that time, I'll mess around with PC games. Just maybe. So in no particular order, here's the games I am playing:
Advance Wars 2: Black Hole Rising
This is the current game in my Game Boy Advance SP. What a great buy! My friend Dom mentioned I should check this out as the game was only ten bucks over at Best Buy. Without a doubt, it's worth the $10, and maybe a little more. I just like strategy games on my GBA SP, like the ones I listed I played below. I still want to get Zelda and Kingdom Hearts for my GBA, and I do want to get a Sony PSP later in March, but for now, for my ten dollars, this is a great game!
Twilight Imperium, Third Edition
Thankfully, I myself did not have to pay for this game. At about $80.00 MSRP, it's a big purchase, but thankfully, fellow co-worker Ali, at Borderlands Comics and Games, got this game, and showed me and a few others last Friday how to play. Let me tell you, it's one great game. I'm hooked now, and now I'm trying to get my hands on a color copy of the rulebook, and looking forward to the next game over at Borderlands!
MLB Sportsclix
2004 brought us the first edition of this game, and 2005 will bring us a re-vamped edition. A "Clix" game from the creators of Mage Knight and HeroClix, WizKids Games entered the sports market with the 2004 set. 2004 was great with over 200 players to initially build your 9 player team, but now in 2005, WizKids is going with about 100 or so players. Limited number of MLB players to collect, but this year includes MLB Hall of Famers such as Babe Ruth, Nolan Ryan, and Tom Seaver. The 2005 edition is set to be released on March 30th, and I can't wait for opening day at the Sportsclix ballpark!
Star War Miniatures
From Wizards of the Coast, the first expansion, Rebel Storm, featured figures from Episode IV through VI, and was released when the Star Wars Trilogy was released on DVD way back in September, 2004, and the second expansion, Clone Strike, featured figures from Episode I and II, and was released shortly after Thanksgiving, 2004. Now, the third release will feature figures from Star Wars, Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, and is set to be released around the first week of April, a month before the movie itself is due in May. It's a great game, and easy to play, and awesome to collect. How can anyone say no to Star Wars?
The Buffy The Vampire Slayer CCG
Now this was a great game, created by Score Entertainment a few years ago. However, because it was not a financial success, when compared to other games like Dragon Ball Z and Pokemon, Score allowed the license to expire and decided not to continue making cards for the game. Luckily, there's a great players committee over at BuffyCCG.com, supporting the game and it's players. One of these days, I'll get back into the game as much as I have been in the past. But regardless, it still remains a favorite game of mine.
Wildstorms CCG
Now this wouldn't be a TWiWS column without mentioning something related to WildStorm, right? Released back in the heyday of WildStorm comics, the cards for this CCG included all of the heroes from the WSU. But what also made this game great was that WildStorm Productions also produced cards from the Image Universe, and a few cards from the Marvel Universe, as WS Productions was working on Heroes Reborn for Marvel. Even back in the day, there was a Spawn Power Cardz CCG set, which had a few cards that featured WildStorm's Fairchild from Gen13 and Grifter from Wildcats. And also Marvel's old Overpower CCG had an Image Comics expansion with WSU cards, too. Well, the heyday is long gone, but what we do have today is Upper Deck VS System, featuring cards from both Marvel and DC. With the WSU under DC Comics, will we see the WSU in the VS System? Only time will tell… Until then, here are a few images from these old CCGs, to relive the nostalgia. Till next time!
I'm writing this about a hour before the 2005 NBA All Star Game, held in Denver, Colorado this year. I figure, since I am in an "All Star" mood, I add this entry to remind you about Jim Lee's upcoming project, All Star Batman and Robin, set to come out in July, from DC Comics, of course.
But still relating to NBA Basketball, way back in the day... Back in 1993, Upper Deck released their 1992-1993 NBA Upper Deck Basketball Set with cards illustrated by Marc Silvestri and Jim Lee. Under the title of Fanimation, Jim Lee's cards depicted NBA greats Larry Bird and Michael Jordan, while Marc Silvestri illustrated Karl Malone and Dikembe Mutombo. Well, for you Jim Lee fans, below are the images from Jim Lee's cards. Now, one of these days, I'll make it to an NBA All Star game... One day...
Wanted to add this one bit of news so late on Friday evening.... err, I mean Saturday morning here in not-so-sunny Florida....
WildStorm News from WonderCon in San Francisco, posted over at Newsarama, including a little news of J. Scott Campbell’s Wildsiderz, pictured above.
Have a great weekend everyone!

Breaking News! Just posted on Newsarama: Razor's Edge: Redbird cancelled by DC.
Bummer. I wonder if Ed Brubaker signing exclusively to Marvel has anything to do with this? And just when we were ready for more Jason Pearson art. Oh well. *sigh*
Coming out tomorrow will be the next issue of Authority: Revolution, issue #5 of a 12 issue maxi-series, by Ed Brubaker, Dustin Nguyen, and Richard Friend. Some select comic stores may have a preview copy on their shelf, much like my very own store where I work part time at, Borderlands Comics and Games, in good, old Jacksonville, Florida, home of Superbowl XXXIX. Anyways, I was able to read up ahead on this issue, and I must say, the ending will be a pleasant surprise for long time readers of The Authority. I guess the rest of you will just have to wait and see on Wednesday.
A quick thanks to Shane for the warm welcome to the site. I have no idea who's reading this or not, but I figure with Shane and I seeing each other posting more often than not, we're bound to fill this blog up regularly from now on. I guess we'll be trying to out do each other post after post.
And another quick note: I doubt I will be reviewing Chaykin's City of Tomorrow. To keep myself focused, and to keep within my spending budget, I'll be strictly looking at WildStorm Universe books from WildStorm, and I think Chaykin's work falls within WildStorm's Signature Series line. Sure, I may read the book, but I'll have a specific focus, for the meantime.
And now, for today's topic, "Where I Go, Egos...", I see that Shane updated his links to the right. Here I'll take this time to showcase the links I go to myself. Without further adieu, here we go:
I'll leave you all with that for now. I'll have more WSU info in the next post, and then I may indulge myself with a few posts regarding a few of my other loves (or vices, if you like): Nike Air Jordans and the Buffy The Vampire Slayer CCG...
Well, that's me above, pictured with Jim Lee of WildStorm and DC Comics, taken at the November 2003 Wizard World Texas in Arlington outside of Dallas. (Plus it's me 30+ pounds ago. I still have a little ways to go to get to a svelte 200 lbs.!) The name is Jason Bacani, and some (or maybe none) may know me back in the day for hosting this awesome Gen13 website called JayCE's TOO KEWL FOR YOU Gen13 WebSite. Well, it's been awhile since I made changes to the site, and the original URL has moved due to changes with ISPs and such, but it's still around and if you like, you can find it here, for your reference:
http://home.comcast.net/~jayce/gen_13.html
Most of the existing site is intact, but there are some broken links within. I'll be sure to re-visit the site and update it one of these days…
Anyways... Why am I here? Well, after talking with Shane the other day, we kinda got to the point where one of us suggested I add some content mainly focusing on the WildStorm Universe. I'm sure Shane himself reads a few titles like Sleeper and such, but what if some one else like myself can provide some news and insight on some of the other titles, like Majestic, Wild Girl, Razor's Edge: Warblade and Razor's Edge: Redbird, and even The Authority? Well, I'm not an expert, but I am a fan, and that's what I'll be providing each week or so. It'll be titled "This Week In WildStorm", or TWiWS for short. Some day's I'll have complete reviews, other days I'll have news, and others, I'll just feature what's new during the week. As a parting shot, I'll leave you with Majestic #2. Continuing from the return of Mr. Majestic into the WS Universe after a brief stint in the DC Universe with Superman and The Eradicator, issue #2 picks up with Majestros still investigating the disappearance of the entire human race off of the planet Earth. Makes for some interesting reading and visuals, but my questions are: where are the rest of the WSU big hitters when this happened, such as The Authority, for example? With so few titles featuring heroes in the WSU, will we see how this event affects them? Also, where's Desmond? Fans of the original Majestic series will remember him, and fans of The Intimates will know he's still around, at least appearing in a cameo over in The Intimates #3. Well, if you've haven't been following Majestic, be sure to check out Mr. Majestic #1, complete with two covers, and Majestic #2, which hits comics stores this week.
That's it for now. Till next time, make mine WildStorm!
